a farm, lots of mud due t o rain the night before, and a dose of sun to dry the floor just enough so that my feet do not lose their boots in the slop. This is the perfect place - with the perfect conditions -.? To test one of the latest culture pickup, GMC Sierra 2015

Or

Under the hood of the Sierra SLT -trimmed is a V-8 less suited to farm work and better equipped for trolling of the automobile.

Before getting into the meat and potatoes of the Sierra, I have a little announcement to make. TTAC now features an off-road area to test trucks and SUVs. Kind of. It probably will not be fully available to us a little time, but shenanigans will be due before the end of the summer. Heres hoping that manufacturers send us some metal so that we can put to the test this newfound Playland.

Like this Sierra, well, it is not a farm truck. Hell, its just a work truck. Sierra is available in four trim levels - base SLE, SLT and Denali trim-up. Our SLT tester garni arrived with his still i ntact seat bench, which is great for mid-summer-romance canoodling and one reason girls dig guys with trucks, maybe.

interior configuration aside, the real news for this Sierra is under the hood. The 6.2-liter V-8 Ecotec3, with its 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, is a nod to the old school of solutions to power and a pragmatic approach to efficiency. The V-8 linkage might sound archaic next to the new units of Ford and Dodge and turbo diesel, but that does not make it less valid.

Powertrain
Big power, these days, is easy to do. When you can go out and buy a family car with over 700 horsepower for less than $ 100,000, power is almost insignificant -. Unless you also try to combine this power with fuel economy

Previously only available on the Denali chrome loaded, the 6.2-liter V-8 now finds its way within trims, as more sober SLT model - and it is a punisher. Coupled with rather modest looks, more V-8 give much performance cars a run for their money. Were not talking about M3-beating performance here. After all, no matter what you people may think, Im not completely delusional. Yet, with this combinat ion, you could certainly catch some people off guard with stop lights.

This is quite true if there was not the incredible amount of latency experienced from a standing start. It feels like you can count the number of seconds between your foot on the accelerator and the V-8 comes to life. The experience is painful. At intersections occupied, you still doubt the capacity of the Sierra out of his way and, more importantly, that the cross-border traffic oncoming. Why this latency is, Im not quite sure. It could be a matter of many causes. It is certainly not because the engine lacks power or torque, however.

Automatic transmissions with six speeds modern GM has always impressed me with their antics smooth shift regardless of the idle speed in which they make these changes, but the eight-speed slushbox in our tester seems to have lost little refinement while maintaining its lethargic in nature. Coupled with the large eight-cylinder engine, the changes can be abrupt mid- range and deeper into the towers. Fortunately, when putting around town, the Hydra-Matic 8L0 has the same attitude as its silky six indexed counterpart.

In fact, the eight-speed is designed to provide increased efficiency and not Rolls-Royce quality change. In this regard, and in combination with the L86 cylinder deactivation Turning V-8 in a V-4, direct injection, and CVVT, V-8 was evaluated similarly to 5.7-liter HEMI V- 8 of the Ram 1500 on fuel economy while delivering 25 more horsepower and 50 more pounds-feet of torque. I call that a win. For diesel and turbo aversion, it is obvious if youre looking for big numbers. And comparing the Ecotec3 with the HEMI gives GM a victory for useful and towing load by multiples of hundreds of books -. appropriate equipment, of course

Exterior
This category is the one that separates a lower GMC Chevrolet and is also very subjective. I personally take on the Sierra Silverado for half a sandwich additional cost for a vacuum cleaner, grille and headlights that seem to be raised by one of three scholar Michael Bay "Transformers". At the rear of the front fascia, the two trucks - save their selection of badging and c olor -. are completely identical

compared with the F-150, Sierra looks a lot more sober and professional, less Tonka-like and thrown together. Unaware that the Ram Rebel grid exists, I think the FCA offers is the best domestic - easily and much more beautiful than the Tundra and Titan. Again, quite subjective.

In the profile, the squared wheel arches are cut out plastic-looking road. However, ignoring GM design cue, Sierra and Silverado pickups are slab face - and it is quite, quite, quite correct. The day I see a BMW-esque flame surfacing on a pickup is the day I give to humanity.

At the rear, GM and Ford ignored RamBox fancy features shrink-a-not customizable anchoring solutions and a notch cut in the bumper entry pickup bed. GM seems much more pragmatic regarding their trucks, preferring simpler, more usable solutions flashy, word features in fashion marketing environment such as those found on Ford and Rams.

But if there is one thing that both ers me about GM trucks, it is the bed I will freely admit this is something that my brain thinks little OCD is a problem and is probably not ... but! peaks in the bed floor are all wrong. Be someone who carries motorcycles in the pickup bed, I like very average peak in the bed floor to go down, not, so I can put the tires of the bike I Hauling in central groove and know with certainty the weight of said motorcycle is distributed evenly together. In addition, it helps alleviate my concerns unfounded motorcycle tires will slide to one side or the other riding atop ridges. Yes, I know this is a me question.

Interior
If you want a quiet place to do your job, you can not find a much better cabin than full truck size of GM. Thank you to intelligent sealing solutions and active noise cancellation, Sierra is "Silent Library" - that is unless you put your foot down for quick scoot to 60 as 6.2 is enough even ruckus to be heard loud and clear

If you order a Sierra without captains chairs optional front, the medium can be used as a console or an additional seat for theater trips drive- in. In addition, since the console is not fixed, the floor space is open from side to side. Carrying a very important package with a very important person? You can keep the two in the front.

The seats themselves, as they provide a wide range of adjustment and the steering wheel and pedals moving direction, did not provide the best comfort. It was not until the end of the week I found a combination of the position of the seats wheel / pedal / management where I was a bit comfortable. The leather seating is just right. The overall design of the interior is OK.

In the back row of our cabin crew tester, space is ample and the seats are easy as pie to pull back. There is no lock. They simply flip and stay there - sometimes. If you plan to cross rough roads, Latchless these seats will go back down without warning.

That said, I like inside Ram more comprehensive, but it bests the F-150 in my eyes.

Infotainment
I still do not understand how navigation is an option on a pick-up $ 50,000, especially when the cost of it is probably negligible for the automaker. On a base model? Of course, make people pay for the ability to find their way in an automated manner across the country. In a truck a lmost top-trim, well, youre just taking the piss

Maybe my brain is wired a little differently than the father of Aaron -. Who is Aaron Guinea pig yardstick used to determine if a system is because the GM system always confuses me - or not friendly. In addition to this, the screen is so damn far away from the driver. If you need to do anything on the infotainment system while driving, you should go ahead just before you unbuckle to reach the screen.

player
Unfortunately I could not test the Sierra with a charge, but the unloaded drive gives a good impression of its capabilities. Effortless power. A good (for a pick-up) turn. I just wish I was a little more comfortable.

There is something to be said for a large, American-style V-8. Sierra, unlike the EcoBoost F-150, will put a smile 6.2 liter size on your face. This is about as close as you can get a muscle car with a bed in the back. I will even say that this particular truck was probably more in common with the old muscle cars that modern muscle cars today to their ancestors. It is shameless and without flash. Just a truck with a big engine that does exactly as its throaty song announcement. The L89 6.2-liter will completely embarrass Craigslist Ferrari you were Eyeballing and be less of a basket case when it comes to repairs in the long term - not that you would cross shop the two

However. I can not stress enough that this truck is a workhorse. It could have the ability, but it is too expensive to be used in the cabbage patch. As a family carrier with the power to tow along a travel trailer or boat, however, it would feel comfortable.

General Motors provided the vehicle and insurance for this review.
